360 by Deezer is an app dedicated to Deezer users that allows you to hear songs recorded in 360 Reality Audio. Now the question is, what happened with it and is it available to access?
What is Deezer 360 Reality Audio?
Deezer 360 Reality Audio maximizes the spatial sound field by creating multiple virtual speakers and converting them into independent objects that can be placed in different positions to create a truly immersive experience for listeners.
You can play content from the Deezer 360 app to certain Sony speakers in 360 Reality Audio quality. Because 360 reality audio is developed by Sony, it works more efficiently with its headphones and speakers.
360 by Deezer: What happened to 360 Deezer?
28 October 2019, music streaming app Deezer launched a new standalone music app that is for HiFi music subscribers to enjoy Sony’s 360 Reality Audio music format.
The app is called 360 by Deezer and is available for iOS and Android users. But after a few years of working periods, this app is shut down by Deezer. After 25th October 2022, many 360 Deezer users received an official email with a shutdown or no longer available message.
Interesting, that different dates are circulating. The email says it’s over from 31/10/22.
After 31 October this app is not available for subscription or use to play any 360 reality songs.
Does Deezer support 360 Reality Audio?
Deezer launched ‘360 Sessions’ to showcase Sony 360 Reality Audio in June 2021. However, Deezer stopped offering content in 360 Reality Audio in October 2022. In particular, the 360 by Deezer app is not available to use from 31/10/2022.
If you subscribed via the 360 by Deezer offer that is available with Sony products, you will still have access to the main Deezer app, where there are millions of tracks available in standard formats.
Requirements for Deezer 360 reality audio:
A premium or latest sound technology, 360 reality audio demands more professional equipment to play more efficiently. Sony developed this audio technology and their few headphone models are designed for it. But a few other things are required to play like:
- iOS version 11 or above
- Android version Lollipop or above
- Deezer Premium
- A 360 Reality Audio compatible device
Compatible devices for 360-reality audio
360 Reality Audio can be enjoyed with any standard headset. You can play with a surround sound system or enabled headphones. This may sound good but not the actual sound quality you’re looking for.
However, for a personalized experience, we recommend Sony’s range of 360RA optimized headsets and Sony SRS-RA speakers:

Deezer 360 reality audio is not available on its platform, you can enjoy a few playlists from Deezer which claims the quality feels the same as 360RA. Five years back they launched a 360 by Deezer app for iOS and Android that comes to access with premium subscription. But all things do not go well according to them, and they shut down the whole process.
After 31st October 2022, the 360 reality-supported app by Deezer is not available for its users. They shifted those premium users to the Deezer app. As of now, Deezer does not come with 360 reality audio and we don’t see any possibilities.
If you really want to use 360 reality audio, there are many streaming platforms available that support 36o reality audio with a premium subscription.

What About Tidal 360 reality audio, can they still provide this audio quality? Deezer and Tidal are the known platforms that support this audio format with their premium plan, but now they do not support this.
